Yep, that's right! I passed both portions of my test today! I woke up at 4:00 this morning and headed out about 5:10. Way too early! Well, we were supposed to be there at 6:00 to start our test and our instructor didn't even get there until 6:45 and then the state examiner didn't get there until 7:15ish. So we got there at 6:00 for nothing. There were only three of us taking the skills test today. Most of the students took it yesterday but since the three of us had college on Thursday then we had to wait until Friday. Well, I had already decided that I would go first because I was ready to get it over with and I figured that if you were brave enough to go first then maybe she would give me a little slack and some easier skills. Well just as I am getting up to get started the examiner decides she wants Amy (my friend from class) to go first. That through both of us off because I was set on going first and she was set on definitely not. She went first and sadly... failed. This of course made me even more nervous that I already was, until I got my skills list. My five skills I had to perform were: Hand Washing, Communication, Pulse Temperature and Respirations, Assisting a resident to sit on the side of the bed, and Female Peri Care. THANK GOODNESS! The only one I was nervous about at all was pulse, but then again I wasn't that worried about it because you are allowed to fail one skill and still pass. Well as you might guess, I did terribly on Pulse but luckily the woman examined my answer then looked at me sternly and replied "Are you sure?" I said, "I think so." So then she says "Would you like to try again?" of course I say "YES MA'AM!" I did much better the second time and ended up passing that skill along with all of my other skills! I didn't fail a single one! I was so excited! I had the hardest part down and all that was left was the written part of the exam. Out of all 12 of us in my class only two failed. That's pretty good. Well, I show up for my written part and I was not nervous at all about it because it is all common sense for the most part. And the correct answer is almost always the one that either talks about resident rights or resident safety. The test was a breeze and I was the second one done. I had to wait for everyone else to get finished before I could find out how I did... that gave me plenty of time to stress a little. Since I was the second one done I was the second to find out if I passed or not and luckily.... I DID! To celebrate mom took me to Brumley's, a scrub shop in Sulphur Springs, and bought me some new scrubs that were SOOO cute and then she took me out to eat our favorite chinese food place aka "table or boof"
Well, let me just tell you a little story about what happened to me yesterday. For two days now mom has been begging me to let her give me a depo shot. That is just a steroid shot to help me get over this little bug and to help me stop sneezing. She has given me this shot before and it didn't hurt one bit, but she gave it to me yesterday and it hurt SOOOO bad. My arm felt like it was on fire and I swear she was digging that shot into my skin... I look down to see the damage and I see the shot shoot out of my arm. All of the medicine came running out. Well, my arm stung so bad and bled pretty good to and it didn't even bleed last time. So, I just go on with my day pissed at my mom for making me take that shot :) I start to feel weird half way through my first class. I figured I was just hungry since I didn't eat much breakfast so I just bought a bottle of water and didn't think much of. By the time I was in my third class I felt as if I couldn't even hold my body up... I felt completely drained up every ounce of energy and my stomach was bothering me even more now. Half way through that class I knew something was about to happen so I hurriedly ran out of the room and 5 seconds later I puked in the floor in the middle of the hallway. There were two good things out of that situation 1) Nobody was in the hallway 2) I puked just my water and caught most of it in my hands. I knew I wasn't done so I ran into the bathroom and I puked all over the floor and all over the toilet and pretty much missed the toilet. It was so embarrassing... I had to stand in a puddle of my watery puke and just cried. I had to go home. I cleaned myself up and went back to class and as soon as it was over I got the hell out of there. I didn't feel good at all driving home and I contemplated pulling over and taking a nap several times. I really didn't think I could make it because I felt like I was going to pass out. Luckily, I made it home, thank God, and I talked to mom for five minutes and crawled into bed for four hours and I slept like a baby. Since then my arm has been throbbing and I have a huge not and bruise on it. It hurts like hell! The moral of the story is: NEVER LET MY MOM GIVE YOU A SHOT WHEN YOU TELL HER YOU DON'T WANT IT! :) love you mom!
